Trying to run gnome with cpanel but can’t seem to figure out the issue? Here is the fix.Here is the fix:

• I’m sure you’ve installed the OS by now. The next step would be to edit a few files before running the cpanel installer. Be sure to do this before you run the cpanel installer
• Edit /etc/inittab and look for
  • id:5:initdefault:
  • change to id:3:initdefault:
• Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and comment out the following:
  • RgbPath      “/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb”
  • FontPath     “unix/:7100″
• Save the file and you’re done.

Once you complete the cpanel installer, you can use ’startx’ to use the gui. Enjoy!
