So, I worked graveyard for a year and half. It was the worst experience in my life! I knew the health risks involved with it, but not to the extent explained in this article. I’m glad I no longer work grave, though I’m still trying to adjust to the normal sleeping hours, even 6 months later.
So, I wanted to setup a Dell PowerEdge 1800 with a Cerc 6 channel SATA controller for Raid 5. I had 6 (count them, 6) 750GB hard drives. The only problem is that the Cerc 6 has a 2 TB storage limitation. This means that you can’t setup all 6 drives on the same array.

I’m thoroughly annoyed with Microsoft and how they have yet to develop a good data migration tool… I can’t believe that I still have to use file transfers and complex SQL queries to move databases from one server to an other. Argh!
While PDSH is nothing new, it comes in really handy when you have to issue the same command on 100+ servers. Using pdsh, you can do a variety of things. In my case, I just restart the snmpd service using the following:
$ pdsh -w “root@host[01-100]” service snmpd restart

Like irregardless. If there is one thing that pisses me off is the fact that people claim this is word based solely on the fact that it is listed in the dictionary.
Now, what does this word mean? Absolutely nothing! If there is a time for me to speak up, this is it. This word is used by people that want to sound smart. Irregardless of how you look at it, the word is an oxymoron!
