outlook 2007 error 0x800CCC80
Yeah, I upgraded to Outlook 2007 and here is what I got: 0x800CCC80 when attempting to send an email. The solution to the problem is listed below:
Go to Tools > Account Settings > Double click the account > More Settings > Outgoing Server > 'Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail'.
You're welcome!
Worked for me, thanks!!
Super! Thanks Microsoft for introducing yet another stupid error into products that are supposed to make our lives easier…
man it took me 3 years to find your ass… if this is the same Will Sani… lol
Thank you! Worked. I’d have never guessed this was the solution. I’ve set up about 100 email accounts in my life, but never in Outlook 2007, and never did I have to click on that button.
Solution much appreciated.
Keep in mind that this isn’t an Outlook issue per se. The mail server is configured to require POP before SMTP.
thanks for confusing….
I’m sorry if I confused you
There was one more click in there that may have made it easier for us not so familiar with setting up an email program. After account setting>change> that being said: Thank you so much!! I only had the problem occur when I’m in a hotel. Everything works fine at home, so this was even more confusing to me.
Thank you many times over for the help!!
Coleen
Very good, it’s cleared!!
Thanks!
Yeah, it happened to me in my hotel too…..glad this page was out there…worked like a champ!
Now i wonder if i have to change it back when i get home…..
sweet sweet!
John
thank’s! it worked!
Hi,
Thanks for tip but I still have problem because my account setup in outlook 2007 is IMAP and option “Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail’” is not available in this case.
Any idea ?
Thanks
erick
Not sure, are you seeing the same error message?
Thank You – outlook7 worked fine at home but not in certain Hotels with their Wireless networks and differing configurations.
Now I can relax during my extended stay
Never had errors sending email (outgoing).
Then suddenly, this error pops up. Followed advice and the damn thing is working again!!!
Grrr…. Microsoft… Grrrr…
THANK YOU !!!! In the Bahamas, you saved me a lot of time and messing about
THANK-YOU ! ! ! ! !

Unfortunately, some service providers employ folks that aren’t really computer savvy. Sad but, true
Tried your solution but the set up was correct. My outlook seems to want to send mails which are not there and everytime the same error message pops up (although all actual mails are sent and received). Have you come across this before?
You might want to disable your AV (Anti Virus) outgoing message scanning. That may be a reason why Outlook is behaving erratically.
way to easy! thanks
THANK YOU SO MUCH! This has been driving me crazy for hours!!
Thanks, also works for upgrade to Outlook 2010.
